How would you describe your photography style?
I love authentic images that are filled with emotion. I love warm earth tones of greens, burgundys and yellows. I seek out genuine moments that make me FEEL something.
Most photos are lightly posed, meaning I’ll help get you into place first and then encourage interaction and real expressions using prompts to help you engage with each other while I’m snapping away.
If you want to sum it up, my work is categorized as lifestyle photography.
If you’re looking for a photographer to help freeze this little slice of life, wherever you may be, I’m your gal. If you want to enjoy a good dose of giggles, have FUN and get truly authentic family photos, I’m your gal.
I am FOR: Genuine smiles, tickle fights, personality, playing chase, slobbery dogs, creativity, being yourself. My GOAL: To capture the emotion & connection between each of you. This life is precious and I’m here to celebrate your beautiful, imperfect selves.
When will my images be delivered?
I tell my clients no more than 2 weeks from the date of your session, and I like to offer sneak peeks on Facebook within the first 48 hours! I’ve never once been late with a 2 week delivery date and I usually even get galleries delivered sooner. (This time frame does not apply to weddings, which have a 3 week delivery time frame.)
Also as a “just in case” clause for myself, for every day after 2 weeks I’m behind, you get a FREE fine art gallery print of your choice up to a size 8x10. (How’s that for incentive to get that gallery to you? Haha.)
When does a Newborn Session occur?
It depends! If you choose to go with a Fresh 48 Session then those are taken at the hospital within the first 48 hours of baby’s life. If you choose to go with a Newborn Lifestyle Session then those are taken in home within the first two weeks of baby’s being born (ideally!).
You won’t see any baskets or delicate wraps in my portfolio. I am for natural, lifestyle photography. That being said, if you’d like to include your own props in your session, such as swaddles, toys or headbands, just let me know!
What if my kids don’t cooperate?
I love getting to know my clients’ kids, even the ones who are shy/stubborn/you name it! I always approach the session as a new friend who’s just there to play and have a good time. I have all the patience in the world, and I find that being easy-going translates to happy kiddos.
That being said, not every moment of the session is perfect, and that’s totally OK — in fact, it’s encouraged! In 10 years, I’m willing to bet that you’ll cherish the image of your toddler crying fake tears just as much as the one that we took 10 seconds later of him happily running toward the camera. My goal is to capture the personalities of the kids in front of my lens, including all of the beautiful quirks, details, and small moments that make up childhood.
Can we do an In-Home Session even if our house is tiny/messy/dark?
YES!!! I’ve worked in plenty of clients’ homes, and I’ve never found one that didn’t work. There is always a beautiful little patch of light that’s perfect for photography! I’m used to photographing in a variety of homes. If it’s home to your family, that’s all I need to work with! And PLEASE don’t worry about the mess — nothing fazes me! If needed, I’ll help you move furniture/clutter around as we go.
Where will the session take place?
Typically sessions take place either outdoors or in my clients’ homes. For outdoor sessions, I’m happy to provide location suggestions and am always excited to hear about new suggestions if my clients have a preference!
Travel is included for locations covered within 25 miles of Issaquah; a $50 travel fee will be applied to anything further than this radius.
I am a natural light, on location or in your home photographer. Together we will choose the perfect location for your session. Newborn sessions are held at your home.
What happens if it rains? /Someone gets sick?
I keep a number of backup dates open each month in case of bad weather or unforeseeable circumstances. There is no fee to reschedule to a new date if it’s raining or if someone gets sick.
Washington weather is notoriously unpredictable and changes very quickly, so I typically wait to call off a session until that morning. I always keep a close eye on the weather before a shoot and use the Dark Sky app which is the most accurate minute by minute, hour by hour forecast available!
What can I do to help the session go well?
The BEST thing you can do is to let go and enjoy! I know it’s hard not to be stressed before your session, but little ones (including newborns) pick up on anxiety really easily. We’ll have the best chance at getting gorgeous images if we let things happen naturally (with a little guidance from me, of course!) I want your pictures to be amazing and will do all the hard work for you! Your only job is to relax and have fun. 🙂
I’m not photogenic at all!
Believe it or not, pretty much EVERYONE tells me this before their session, and it never turns out to be true! I love coaching my clients through having their photos taken, and I have a lot of tricks up my sleeve to make you look fabulous! When you’re having a great time, you’ll look more beautiful than you thought was possible. I promise! 🙂
Where should I print my images?
I recommend and use an excellent lab called Miller’s Professional Imaging that offers professional-quality prints and more. You can even purchase straight from your online gallery! After you choose your digital files, they mail the prints straight to your home. I order my own prints directly from Millers and have always been astounded with their quality.
I do not recommend printing your images at Shutterfly, Target, Walmart, CVS, or Costco. These labs are not designed to handle printing professional photography.
